Transition Year Sewing

Description:

This course has been designed for teenagers, who wish to broaden their skills.

You will learn how to cut out, sew and personalise a soft furnishing, such as a cushion or a beanbag.

The first 4 weeks are spent making the beanbag or cushion.

The final 2 weeks are spent personalising your own garment.

You will learn how to:

  • Hand stitch
  • Use a sewing machine
  • Insert a zip
  • Attach ribbon, lace, trim,
  • Work with buttons and beading
  • Personalise/alter a garment of your own

All materials and equipment will be provided ( for beanbag/cushion)

By end of course:

You will have learned the basic skills of sewing, will have made a beanbag or cushion and will have personalised/altered a garment of your own.

Duration and time and Dates:

We run one day workshops and longer,  four-six weeks sewing courses.
